KYIV: On Monday, after conducting overnight airstrikes on the Ukrainian capital, Russia launched a salvo of missiles at Kyiv, sending terrified citizens running for cover.
On Monday, a number of explosions were heard in Kyiv as Russia attacked the city for the second time in 24 hours.
The most recent bombardments struck the prowestern nation as Kiev was still recuperating from the largest drone attack which occurred overnight on Saturday, since Russia’s incursion started in February of last year.
At least 10 explosions were heard by AFP journalists in Kyiv starting at 11:10 a.m. (local time), just a short while after an air raid warning went off. Later, authorities said that all Russian missiles launched against the Kyiv region had been shot down by Ukrainian air defences. According to them, one injured individual was hospitalised.
According to Valery Zaluzhny, head of Ukraine’s armed forces, “a total of 11 missiles were fired: ‘Iskander-M’ and ‘Iskander-K’ from a northerly direction.”
